Noah's Birthday

Noah was so excited when Issiah, Madelyn, Ethan and Lillian came to see him on his birthday.
These little guys adore Noah. It does my heart good to see them having fun with him. They see him just like anyone else. I love these little guys so much.

Grandma and Grandpa Bebow stopped by for a bit too.

This picture cracks me up. I can hear Noah's happy sounds just looking at it.
Noah's birthday gift was to go watch the Shelby boys basketball team practice. He was so excited.
We got to watch them do their end of practice drills. It was pretty impressive to watch.

After they finished up their practice they gathered around Noah and sang Happy Birthday to him.
What a great group of boys. Thanks guys it really meant a lot to Noah and his parents. Hope you enjoyed the cupcakes.

Happy 15th Birthday, Noah

Fifteen years ago today we were blessed with the cutest little baby boy at 1:47am, weighing in at 5lbs 14oz and he was 18 inches long.
Its hard to believe it has been 15 years that we were all blessed with the sweetest, bravest person I know.
I look back on therapies, appointments, sleepless nights, tears, frustration, loneliness, milestones, equipment, ignorance, struggle, strength and some many other things. But, I can still say it was absolutely worth it!!!
Looking forward to many more years of taking care of one of God's Miracles.
Happy Birthday, Noah!!!!!

Day of Acceptance and a New Chair

In the middle of December Noah hijacked my Facebook page to ask Santa for a new lighter chair.

Some  of Santa elves got together and raised enough money to purchase said chair. It has extra parts to order that will allow the chair to grow with Noah and be able to used for many years to come,.

When I asked Noah if he wanted to go to the movies with his hearing aides, glasses and in his new chair this is the reaction I got...... To excited to sit still.

Thank you Santa helpers. Can't wait to see where this new chair will take us.

Today is Day of Acceptance. Embrace, Empower and Educate.

Look at Me Now

Just when I thought he couldn't get anymore adorable........

Now he is going to be able to see and hear when he goes to his next basketball game.
We found out he was near sighted and couldn't see past about 10ft.

Noah's Basketball Friends

One of Noah's favorite things (and also his parents) is to go to see the Shelby men's basketball team play their home games.  We've been doing this for the last couple of years.  We found a perfect spot to put Noah and his wheelchair, where we feel he is safe.
Last year we reached out to the team to let them know how much Noah enjoyed seeing them in action.  Their coach, Troy Schwemley, and some of the players, really took Noah under their wing and have since always made sure Noah was having a good time, and that he felt included .  When the players are introduced at the beginning of the game, Noah waits in a line of students for the players to come and give them high-fives.  This year, one player in particular, Austin Rohde, has really taken care of Noah.
He told me a few weeks ago, "We all know Noah would do anything be able to run up and down the court. Our basketball team looks up to him even more than he looks up to us. We see him with a smile on his face at EVERY home game. I can not tell you the boost of energy it gives us we see him cheering us on in the corner. A lot of people see the red rage as the home court advantage but for me personally it is Noah."
For the last few home games, every time Austin is introduced and gets to Noah in the line of high-fives, he presents Noah with a gift.  One week it was a ball, autographed by the whole team, another time it was a wristband, another time a hat, and last night, he gave Noah a towel to twirl to help cheer on the team.
Below is a picture of Noah with all of his great Shelby Whippet basketball swag.  We couldn't get him to stop moving around to even get a picture of him with his eyes open.  He was talking and laughing through the whole photo shoot.
Last week, we asked if it would be possible to get a picture of Noah with the team.  Both Austin and Coach Schwemley said they'd love to do that.
Last night at the game, we were told to "be ready".  We didn't know if we were going to be whisked away to the locker room before the game or just what would happen.
The game last night proved to be a tough one for Shelby, but they played tough and held the Willard Flashes at bay as Shelby won 54-49.
Right after the game, we were told to stay in the gym and be patient.  We never head out immediately anyway, so we hung out.  Pretty soon, here came the entire team and the coaches.  The lined up under the basket and put Noah in the middle of all of them as we snapped a few pictures.  You can tell by the smiles on their faces they're all happy with their win last night.
We're so thankful for the Shelby basketball team and their continued support of Noah.  I may not have grown up in this town, but I'm a Whippet now, and I will be for a long, long time.
And so will Noah...

Christmas 2012

With all the construction going on at our house, the Charlie Brown tree is the only tree we had. I kinda liked the whole simple is better concept. Especially since we all passed around the cold that wouldn't go away forever during the holidays as well.

The best part of Christmas was watching Noah with all the other kids in the Christmas program at church.
Since I wasn't feeling well, I didn't get all the picture I  wanted. Oh well at least we have some.
I got Morgan and Emily shirts that haven't come yet but, I printed off a copy of the shirt and wrapped it up. Here is Emily modeling her "shirt".

Noah received a bunny that I added a feeding tube, hearing aides and he was sitting in a wheelchair.
Noah loved it!!!
Now I need to add one more thing. Can you guess what it is?

Noah loves opening gifts on Christmas morning.

Morgan, Emily and Noah at Uncle Paul's.

Noah gave Grandma Sheaffer a mug he colored himself. She loved it!!

When Morgan was born 21 years ago I vowed I would always have Christmas put away and we would make her day special just for her. I did that for 20 years and then this year  we were making plans to get together for Christmas. The Sunday after Christmas came up (Dec 30th. Morgan's birthday) I guess it was time to start new traditions.
When Morgan and Brad got engaged, he asked if he got a Proud Brother-in-Law shirt. This year at Christmas I was able to make it happen.

I always wondered what my girls thought about me growing up. I guess this sign tells it all.

Noah went shopping with his class and he picked out this tattoo sleeve for Brad.
Not sure why he thought Brad would like it but, he looks pretty good. Haha

Noah really liked his Perry the Platypus hat and gloves he received from Morgan and Brad.

Scott had to get in on the fun and try on the tattoo sleeve.
What do you think?
